New Larger Silver Bowl with Grapes and Oranges

I just finished working on a new oil painting that is a larger version of a 5" x 7" oil painting I did earlier this year titled "Silver Bowl with Grapes & Oranges". This one is 8" x 10". Here is a look at the progression. 

After adding a very thin wash of oil paint to the primed linen board, I started sketching using a dark Earth Red oil paint thinned down.

Once I had the outlines drawn, I filled in the lights and darks with the same color, like you would do with a single color charcoal or Conté crayon sketch. 

Next I filled in shapes with blended colors, paying attention to lights and darks from my sketched layer. This silver plated bowl is like a house of curved mirrors with reflections that are so abstract.

I have tried to capture the opacity and reflection of the grape skins and the translucency of the orange pieces. Once this is dry, I will varnish it, then frame it and post it in the gallery.
